1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, using Hanzi Forge, or purchasing VIP access, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Notice and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you are not legally able to enter into this agreement, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept it for you.

2. The service

Hanzi Forge provides ten chapters of interactive Chinese-character learning activities, including character-part assembly, pronunciation, meanings, phrases, examples, structure notes, and saved learning progress. The complete workshop contains 50 collectible character discoveries. It is a supplementary educational tool and does not guarantee a particular examination, language, or academic result.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information, keep your credentials confidential, and promptly tell us if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. You may close your account using the in-product account controls.

4. Free and paid access

• Chapter 1 and its discoveries remain available without payment.
• Monthly VIP unlocks Chapters 2–10 as you progress, including all 50 collectible character discoveries, for one calendar month from activation.
• The displayed base price is currently US$0.70 for one calendar month. The checkout shows the final amount and any applicable taxes before payment.
• This is not an automatically renewing subscription. To extend access, you must make another purchase. Each confirmed repeat purchase adds one calendar month to the existing VIP expiry.

Prices may change for future purchases. A change does not alter access already purchased.

5. Payments through Paddle

Paddle acts as the authorised reseller and Merchant of Record for paid transactions. Paddle processes payment details, calculates applicable sales tax, issues receipts, and may perform fraud and compliance checks. Your transaction is also governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms. We do not receive or store your complete card number.

6. Refunds

Refund eligibility and requests are described in our Refund Policy. Because Paddle is the seller of record, approved refunds are issued through Paddle to the original payment method where possible.

7. Permitted use

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Hanzi Forge for lawful educational purposes. You may not interfere with the service, bypass access controls, automate abusive requests, resell access, copy or redistribute substantial content, reverse engineer protected components, or use the service to violate another person’s rights.

8. Intellectual property

The application design, code, learning arrangement, text, graphics, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to Fang Lin, operating under the Hanzi Forge brand. Chinese characters and general linguistic facts are not claimed as proprietary. Feedback you send may be used to improve the service without identifying you publicly.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service available, but maintenance, security events, provider outages, or network conditions may interrupt access. We may improve, replace, or discontinue features. If a material technical failure prevents delivery of paid access, contact us so we can restore access or help arrange an appropriate remedy.

10. Suspension and termination

We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, security threats, legal requirements, or a material breach of these terms. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Mandatory consumer rights and rights relating to completed purchases remain unaffected.

11. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hanzi Forge is provided on an “as available” basis and we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits your mandatory consumer rights.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms to reflect product, legal, or security changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated in a reasonable way.
